Here is his post-match speech in full:
“I have been handed a microphone to address you and I am very proud to do that.
“I have got to say it has been a very proud four years of my career. I have enjoyed every moment.
“I was disappointed we could not get a better result tonight. I thought our second-half performance quite honestly deserved a draw.
“We would have liked to have finished the season here at home with a good result against one of the top teams and sent you home maybe a little bit happier, but I have to say it has been wonderful to see you all back here again.
“When I think there is only a third, if that, of the capacity . . . the noise you make and the support you gave us was absolutely first-class, and spurred the boys on.
“As I have said many times, it has been a real privilege to come back and work at Crystal Palace Football Club for the last four years.
“I have been blessed with a fantastic group of players who, as you saw tonight, after a first half when we were not probably playing at our best and having a difficult task against a very good Arsenal side, you saw the way they came out in the second half and we were very close to winning the game, let alone drawing.
“That is what this team is, that is what you have got and that is what you have made to some extent by your support.
“I shall definitely miss everybody. I shall definitely miss football, there is no question of that. But it has been a fantastic journey for me and I have really enjoyed these last four years of it.
“Once again, I want to thank you very much.
“I want to thank the chairman for supporting me and giving me the chance to work here, and I know I am leaving the club in a very, very good place and you are going to see a lot of very good Premier League football here next year.
“Thank you very much.”
