Watford vs Liverpool: Premier League – LIVE!

Ranieri turns 70 next week but, as he starts his 21st job as a manager, the Italian insists he has the spirit and desire to revive a Hornets side facing a tough run of fixtures.

As the Premier League returns after the international break, Liverpool can go top with a win with leaders Chelsea not playing until later.

Mohamed Salah is in scintillating form and is aiming to score in an eighth successive Premier League game for the first time, while Sadio Mane is chasing his 100th Premier League goal.

But Watford will be encouraged by the fact that the last time these two sides, in February 2020, they won 3-0 to end Liverpool’s record 44-game unbeaten streak under Jurgen Klopp.

With kick-off at 12:30pm BST, follow all the action from Vicarage Road.

Live updates

Claudio Ranieri becomes the 14th permanent Watford manager of the Pozzo era today.

The Italian, who turns 70 next week, has taken over following the sacking of Xisco Munoz with the Hornets 15th in the table and four points clear of the bottom three.

But the visit of Liverpool, and upcoming clashes with Arsenal and Manchester United, means there will be little time for Ranieri to settle down into his third stint in the Premier League.

With leaders Chelsea not playing until later, Liverpool can go top of the Premier League.
