West Ham 2-1 Aston Villa: Premier League action as it happened – LIVE!

In-form West Ham rose to fifth in the Premier League after a nervy win over Aston Villa on Monday night.

David Moyes’ side scored their earliest Premier League goal for four years courtesy of Angelo Ogbonna’s header inside two minutes at London Stadium.

Jack Grealish’s deflected strike made it level at the interval, but West Ham quickly restored their advantage as half-time substitute Said Benrahma crossed for Jarrod Bowen to head home.

The Hammers lived very dangerously indeed late on, with Ollie Watkins smashing a penalty against the crossbar after Declan Rice had been penalised for tugging Trezeguet’s shirt inside the area.

That wasn’t the end of Watkins’ frustration, with the former Brentford star also seeing a last-gasp equaliser ruled out for the narrowest of offsides following a lengthy VAR review.
