West Ham vs Rapid Vienna: Europa League – LIVE!

The London Stadium tonight plays host to West Ham’s first proper European home match since 2006.

Austrian side Rapid Vienna are the visitors to east London as the Hammers look to build on their impressive opening win over Dinamo Zagreb.

Goals from Michail Antonio and Declan Rice saw David Moyes’ side triumph 2-0 in the Croatian capital a fortnight ago, making the perfect start to life in Group H.

Since then, West Ham bounced back nicely from Mark Noble’s painful last-gasp penalty miss against Manchester United, winning at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup before striking late to beat Leeds in the Premier League last time out.

Rapid Vienna, by contrast, sit second bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga after a woeful start to the season and were beaten at home by Genk in their opening group stage fixture.

West Ham unveil new statue

Plenty of interest from fans tonight in West Ham’s brand new statue outside the London Stadium, which was officially unveiled yesterday.

The bronze statue pays tribute to Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters and the Hammers’ 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup win over 1860 Munich at the old Wembley Stadium.

Standard Sport prediction

West Ham silenced any doubts about their inexperience on the European stage with their memorable win against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Hammers were impeccable that night and should have too much for a Rapid Vienna side who sit second bottom in the Austrian league following a poor start to the season.

West Ham team news: Coufal doubtful

West Ham face a shortage of right-backs tonight with Ryan Fredericks already out with the groin injury suffered at Old Trafford last week and Vladimir Coufal now doubtful.

However, academy graduate Ben Johnson is ready to step in if required.

David Moyes will be expected to make changes tonight with Brentford up next in the Premier League on Sunday, just as he did in Zagreb.

The likes of Issa Diop, Nikola Vlasic and Manuel Lanzini will hope to get another chance to impress, though you can expect to see the likes of key stars Declan Rice and Michail Antonio – both on target in Croatia – starting as usual.
