West Ham XI vs Sheff Utd: Confirmed team news and starting lineup

The Hammers talisman sat out the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United in the week and has returned to training on the grass since after concerns over the recurrence of a hamstring problem, but does not return against the Blades.

Moyes’s options behind Antonio have dwindled further with Andriy Yarmolenko facing a spell on the sidelines following a knee ligament injury sustained on Tuesday, while at the back Angelo Ogbonna is set for a spell out.

While Moyes is reluctant to put a timescale on it, it is understood Ogbonna is facing more than a month out after a nasty collision with Anthony Martial at Manchester United on Tuesday saw the Italian hobble off with an ankle injury.

The defender, who has been one of the players of the season for West Ham so far, was optimistic that the damage was not too bad – but further examination delivered the bad news.

Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard looks to be operating furthest forward against Sheffield United, with Issa Diop cleared to replace Ogbonna at the back after a head injury.

West Ham starting XI: Fabianski, Diop, Dawson, Cresswell, Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Johnson, Lingard, Lanzini, Bowen
