The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the jewel in jump racing’s crown – and brings the Festival to a rousing conclusion.
Although there will be no fans on course this year, the big race on March 19 could deliver a historic result.
Favourite Al Boum Photo, trained by Willie Mullins, bids to join Cottage Rake, Arkle and Best Mate as a three-time winner.
The market leader faces plenty of new challengers to his crown this year however, including A Plus Tard, who bids to round off an amazing week for jockey Rachael Blackmore.
She became the first woman in the saddle to take the Champion Hurdle, one of the championship races – and could set that record in the Gold Cup.
Champ, owned by the meeting’s leading owner JP McManus, is another top contender, as well as the novice Royale Pagaille.
What time is the Cheltenham Gold Cup?
It is scheduled for 3.05 on Friday, 19 March 2021. This year it is sponsored by local charity WellChild.
