What you missed at the Olympics: Day Six


t is day six here at the Tokyo Olympic Games and for once, our early morning update doesn’t bring you news of more British medals.

There’s still been plenty going on, though. Here’s what you’ve missed overnight…

No fairytale ending for Glover

There was another near-miss for the British rowing team as Imogen Grant and Emily Craig missed out on a medal by 0.01 seconds in the lightweight double sculls.

There was better news, however, for Duncan Scott and Luke Greenbank, who reached the finals of the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke, respectively, after winning their semis.

China deny Titmus, Ledecky gold

Elsewhere in the pool, US star Caeleb Dressel won his first individual Olympic title to go with three relay golds as he set a new Olympic record in the men’s 100m freestyle.

Kendricks tests positive for Covid

The American took bronze in Rio and was expected to be the closest challenger to world record holder Armand Duplantis.
