The group stages were not plain sailing for Jurgen Klopp’s side, having been beaten at home 2-0 by Atalanta on matchday 4. However, the Reds followed that up with a home win over Ajax the following week to wrap things up.
Liverpool have been successful in the Champions League of late: they finished as runners-up in 2017.28 before going one better and winning the competition the following year – but exited at the last-16 stage last season.
Having qualified top of their group, Liverpool are now one of the eight seeded teams for Monday’s draw.
Given that they cannot face Group D rivals Atalanta, that leaves seven possible opponents for Klopp’s men.
- FC Porto
- RB Leipzig
- Borussia Monchengladbach
- Atletico Madrid
