Jack Wilshere reveals how Arsene Wenger improved him as a footballer

Jack Wilshere said a move to Inter Miami would be “nice” as he responded to speculation linking him with David Beckham’s MLS franchise.

Wilshere is currently training with Arsenal as he ponders his next move after leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season.

The former Gunners midfielder is keeping up his fitness levels until the new year – and that has led to talk he could head to the United States when the MLS season starts in January.

Wilshere looked set for a big future after breaking into Arsenal’s team as a teenager, turning in a man-of-the-match performance in a win over Barcelona in 2011 when he was just 19.

Injuries derailed his career, but he is still keen to play at the highest level possible – and that could mean a move to the States.

“I’d like to go abroad actually,” Wilshere said on talkSPORT. “Obviously I would like to play in the Premier League as well.

“But I would also like to play abroad.”

He added: “I’m training with Arsenal ‘til the end of January, the MLS start their pre-season in January.”

Wilshere was asked by co-presenter Darren Bent whether he would like to play for Inter Miami, owned by former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham.

The 29-year-old replied, “Oh that would be nice,” before asking Bent to put a word in as the two played together for England.

“You must know Becks? You played with him! Give him a call. Any chance, 10%?”

Inter Miami boss Phil Neville is reportedly planning a clear-out of his squad, which includes the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, at the end of the current season after the Florida-based side lost their last six of their last seven games.

Meanwhile, Wilshere is “looking forward to being more involved” after starting a new temporary role at Arsenal.

While he trains with the Gunners, he is helping out his former club’s academy and was a coach on Tuesday evening in their under-17s’ match.

“Really enjoyed being part of the U17 coaching team last night in the London Cup,” the former West Ham midfielder wrote on Instagram.

“Thought the boys were brilliant and played some really good football.

“Looking forward to being involved more!”

Mikel Arteta welcomed his former team-mate back to Arsenal’s Colney training centre earlier this month.

The Gunners boss told : “What you should believe is that we want to help Jack prepare for his next stage, physically, mentally.

“He wants to do his coaching badges again and we are prepared to fulfil all the needs that he wants.

“That is basically the idea and it is no further than that. I am very happy to have him back.”
