Liverpool have completed the signing of English starlet Kaide Gordon from Derby County for an initial fee of £1million, which could rise to £3million with add-ons.
Gordon, 16, arrives on Merseyside to much fanfare having already earned comparisons to Reds forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester United star Mason Greenwood.
United and Tottenham were also in the race for the highly-rated teen, who Derby boss Wayne Rooney described as “one of the best trainers” in his squad.
Gordon made his senior debut for the Rams in late December, coming off the bench in the closing stages of the 4-0 win over Birmingham City.
The youngster – who joined Derby’s academy at under-9 level – confirmed his move to Liverpool on social media, accompanying the post with the message: “Next chapter… can’t wait to get going.”
An England youth international, Gordon is comfortable in a number of roles across the attack and has a wand of a left foot similar to Salah’s, according to Derby academy expert Jack Hasler.

“His [biggest strength] is his dribbling skills – he is a very agile player and he has a bit of pace about him as well,” Hasler told the Liverpool Echo’sBlood Red podcast.
“In terms of the skills he has now, and at the age of 16, he is a top-quality player. He has a good eye for goal and he creates goals for his teammates.
“If he was to bulk up a bit, he could, in terms of a Liverpool player, be similar to Mohamed Salah in that he has that left foot that is really special.”
Hasler added: “He is always going to score and create, but if you look at someone like [Mason] Greenwood, he is good with both feet now and that is something that Gordon would be looking to do.”
