The woman’s body was found inside a flat on Victoria Road, Great Yarmouth at around 8.30pm yesterday. Norfolk Constabulary arrested a man in his 30s at the scene on suspicion of murder

Norfolk Constabulary confirmed to MailOnline that a man in his 30s, who is known to the deceased, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.

Crime scene examiners were busy collecting forensic evidence from the scene and a cordon around the property remains in place.

Officers said they are working to establish the events leading up to the woman’s death.

Detective Inspector Tom Smith of Great Yarmouth CID said: ‘We’re in the early stages of our enquiries but at this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident and are not linking this to any other ongoing investigations locally.

‘Initial enquiries led officers to arrest a man in the property on suspicion of murder and he is helping us with our enquiries.’

Police said there is no link between this death and the murder of Linda Hood, who was strangled at her home in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth.

Ms Hood, who was 68, died from ‘compression of the neck’ before her house was set ablaze.
