A man has told how he was left ‘mortified’ after receiving a note from a neighbour pleading with him to ‘have quieter sex’.
Stephen Cunningham, from Glasgow, was left embarrassed when a note was slid under his door from a resident who urged him to ‘keep the noise down at night.’
The 26-year-old was reminded that ‘sound travels’ and that the volume of his sexual antics were leaving others with no choice but to share ‘intimate and private moments’ with him.
‘I woke up at 8:30am so they must have come early to make sure I was asleep. I was rolling on the floor laughing while reading it, I was mortified.
Stephen Cunningham, 26, from Glasgow, was left embarrassed when a note was slid under his door from a resident who asked him to be considerate over sound levels
He continued: ‘At first I thought it was about something to do with the close. My pals told me to buy my neighbours earplugs. I just don’t know which neighbour sent it and I don’t really want to know to be honest.’
The note read: ‘Dear neighbour. Just a friendly note from your neighbour to remind you the walls in these buildings are thin and sound can travel.
‘While we appreciate that it is inevitable that we will hear neighbours at times, we want to make you aware that we can hear more than we should.
‘I’m sure you will agree that we all must be considerate and respectful of our neighbours, we don’t want to be sharing your intimate and private moments with you.
It wasn’t long before the post went viral on Twitter, with many taking to social media with their witty responses (pictured)
‘Therefore we politely ask if you could please keep the noise down at night. Please be mindful that you have neighbours in a building where sound travels. Thanks for understanding.’

‘I’d frame that and stick it on the wall,’ wrote one, while another similarly penned: ‘I’d have that framed as a badge if honour.’
A third added: ‘Post a pair of earplugs through their door and get on with your life,’ while a fourth suggested:
‘I’d put a “loud-o-meter” on the wall outside your door and ask them to mark how loud it was each time on a scale of, “Hurry up I’ve got work in the morning” to.’
A fifth commented: ‘I know how to make them mortified… I’d put the letter on the wall or a lampost out their house so they can see it and add the ear plugs with a reply, To who whom it may concern, I have inserted Earplugs for your convenience please use them and enjoy a quiet life!’
