Paulina Porizkova reveals dating difficulties: ‘The pool of men is now a puddle’

Supermodel Paulina Porizkova regularly sets social media alight with her saucy bikini snaps and nearly-nude photos – but according to the 56-year-old, she doesn’t get quite the same enthusiastic response when it comes to her profile on dating apps.

The fashion favorite opened up about her struggle to get back into dating in her 50s while sharing one of those nearly-nude images on her Instagram on Monday, revealing in the caption of her snap that her age has become a real hurdle as far as finding a suitable partner.

Posing naked with just a large red sun hat to protect her modesty, Paulina then shared her dating woes, explaining that the ‘pool of available men’ she might once have found as a younger woman has now been reduced to ‘a puddle’.

‘Dating in your fifties, even if you’re seen as attractive, is much different from dating when younger,’ she wrote. ‘For one, the pool of available men is now a puddle.

Paulina, who revealed last month that she had joined the dating app Hinge, just days after she announced her split from Oscar-winning director Aaron Sorkin, noted that many of her followers had ‘expressed surprise’ at hearing she was experimenting with online dating.

‘So many of you expressed surprise that a famous model would be on a dating app,’ she began her post. ‘You have offered advice: everything from “you don’t need a man, get a hobby, buy a cat – to – go to parties, call up whomever you’re interested in (because they are sure to want me?) and join a different dating app.’

The model’s latest post about her love life comes less than a month after she revealed that she and Sorkin had parted ways following a three-month romance that saw the couple make one red carpet appearance together at this year’s Oscars.

Paulina shared the news of their breakup on her Instagram, explaining to her followers that the duo were not ‘birds of a feather’, but insisting that there was no bad blood between them.

While sharing one of the few images that was taken of the pair together, Paulina gushed about how wonderful Sorkin is, calling him ‘witty’ and ‘sexy.’ She never explicitly revealed why their relationship came to an end, but she alluded to them being too different.

‘I’m so grateful for his presence in my life. He helped heal me and reclaim myself. There truly may be no better man, no man who’s more genuinely “good,”‘ she wrote. ‘He’s brilliant and witty and funny and sexy.

‘But it doesn’t matter how much we may wish we were birds of a feather — we’re still a duck and a goose.’

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum went on to note that she would not be sharing any further details about the split out of respect for her ex-beau.

‘As unfiltered as I usually am, this involves someone else’s privacy — so this is all I’ll ever say on the subject,’ she concluded.

Sorkin was the first man Paulina had been publicly linked to since the death of her estranged husband, rocker Ric Ocasek, in September 2019.

She briefly dated Men in Black writer Ed Solomon in May 2019 while separated from Ocasek. They were together for several months before quietly breaking up.

Prior to Sorkin’s relationship with Paulina, his most public romance was with Sex and the City star Kristin Davis, whom he dated on and off between 2012 and 2014.

Years before, he was briefly linked to Glee star Kristen Chenoweth, who had appeared in his show The West Wing. The two reportedly began dating in 2006, one year after he divorced his wife of nine years, Julia Bingham.

The screenwriter-director and his ex-wife share one child, a 20-year-old daughter named Roxy.

Sorkin and Paulina made their red carpet debut at the Academy Awards in April, with the model dazzling in a shimmery gold dress.

She joked on Instagram that she wanted to ‘look like a female Oscar’ so her date ‘could still take one home’ if he didn’t win his category.

Later, in a New York Times profile, she revealed that Sorkin, whom she called a ‘great kisser,’ invited her to the Oscars for their second date.
