Police probe after bodies of man and woman are found in £300,000 home in Kettering

Detectives have launched a major investigation after the bodies of two people were found at a £300,000 house on a quiet residential street.

Officers were called to a detached property on Slate Drive in Kettering, North Northamptonshire, at around 1pm on Friday over concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

They made the ‘tragic discovery’ of the bodies of a man and a woman inside the home, and both victims were confirmed dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

Northamptonshire Police has cordoned off the scene while forensic examinations take place on the street, where house prices average around £300,000.

Officers from the Force’s Major Crime Team have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV and doorbell camera footage, to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Joe Banfield said: ‘Following this tragic discovery, we are working at pace to establish what has happened and are asking anyone who believes they may be able to help us to get in touch as soon as possible.

‘I know many people will be concerned about this incident, and I would like to offer our reassurance that we have a large number of officers dedicated to our investigation.’

The force added that postmortem examinations are due to be carried out over the weekend.

Residents said they were shocked when ten patrol cars and 15 officers arrived at the house, which has been occupied for two years.

Officers set up a cordon around the home, the walled garden and shared garage.

One neighbour said: ‘I think it’s something quite bad. There were about 15 officers here. They were paring everywhere.’
