Stunned walkers find body in Biggin Hill field as police launch probe into unexplained death

Walkers discovered a body in a field near Bigging Hill, Bromley, yesterday afternoon and a crime scene remains in place.
Detectives have confirmed they are investigating the discovery of a ‘decomposed’ body in a remote field.
The walkers found the body in a wooded area near Saltbox Hill and Jewels Hill shortly before 5pm.
It has not been possible to identify the dead person or inform their family, as of yet.

The police have not confirmed any details of the person who died.
But the death is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests at this time.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 16:19hrs on Sunday, 26 September to Saltbox Hill and Jewels Hill after a body was found by members of the public who were walking in a field.
‘Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform next of kin.
‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
‘A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
Residents online have reported seeing police in the area both day and night
‘No arrests at this time; enquiries are ongoing.
‘A crime scene remains in place.’
A crime scene remains in place on the secluded field close to the airport at Biggin Hill in Bromley, South East London.
It is surrounded by country lanes with no residential properties for around a mile radius.
A white tent was set up at the spot in the field where the body is suspected to have been found while a single police car was stationed at the opposite corner.
Police tape blocks entrances into the hedged area, including one from Jewels Wood near to where the body was found.
