Woman is killed and man is seriously injured as two suspects, 33 and 63, are arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

  • Police have appealed for dash cam footage which may have caught the accident 

Two men have been arrested after a woman was found dead in a road minutes after officers discovered a man with serious injuries nearby.

The man was discovered on Roanne Ringway near the junction with Queens Road, Nuneaton, Warwickshire at around 11.20pm.

A woman’s body was then discovered around 20 minutes later in Marlborough Road and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The unknown man is said to have a serious injury to his arm and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Warwickshire Police officers later seized a car near to where the woman’s body was discovered.

A short time later, a 33-year-old man from Nuneaton handed himself into Nuneaton police Station where he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

A 63-year-old man from Nuneaton was also arrested at his home address on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Dan James from Warwickshire Police Roads Policing Unit said: ‘This was a terrible incident and our immediate thoughts are with the families of the two people involved.

‘It’s too early to speculate on exactly what happened but at this time we are treating the death of the woman and the injury to the man as linked, and we believe both have been involved in a collision with a vehicle. We are working to piece together exactly what happened.

‘It is vital that anyone in the areas around the time the man and woman were discovered gets in contact with police, especially if they have any dashcam or CCTV footage.’
