But the driver crashed his getaway car into a Chevron gas station off Beechnut, jumping out of the vehicle.

The man rushed to a woman who was pumping gas at the station and attempted to get away in her vehicle. The one year old was sitting in the back seat at the time.

Responding officers noticed that the man had a gun and told him to drop the weapon but he refused, Finner shared.

An officer with 15 years in the department fired several bullets into the vehicle, striking the man and the baby. The cop had been unaware that the baby was in the backseat.
