Billionaire Stewart Rahr offloads his eight-bedroom waterfront Hamptons mansion for $50 million

Billionaire Stewart Rahr has sold his massive eight-bedroom Hamptons mansion for around $50million – a substantial cut from the $95million asking price he was initially seeking.

Dubbed ‘Stewie Rah Rah, the No 1 King of All Fun’, the former owner of pharmaceutical wholesaler Kinray made headlines when he bought the private 25-acre property for $45 million in 2004.

Joseph De Sane, the managing director of Bespoke Real Estate – who handled the listing – would not confirm to the Wall Street Journal how much the home sold for, nor would he identify the buyer.

He added that he was ‘grateful for the opportunity to have facilitated this transaction.’

The 18,000-square-foot home, known as Burn Point or ‘Dracula’s Castle’, has eight bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms, three half-bathrooms, and 200-year-old antique flooring.

Rahr initially dropped the price to $75 million after not getting any bites. The price even then dropped to $59million before slipping to $56million.

There are water views from nearly every room in the house along with two elevators, an eat-in kitchen with commercial grade appliances, a professional home cinema, and a wine cellar.

Outside, the property has a massive 2,000 feet of direct water frontage on Georgica Pond, as well as a pool, tennis court with a viewing pavilion, a boat house, a private dock, and a gazebo.

Rahr sold Kinray in 2010 for $1.3 billion and then paid his ex-wife Carol $250 million in a divorce settlement after 43 years of marriage.

Rahr is known for his ties with an array of notable figures and celebrities, including former President Donald Trump, Paris Hilton and Leonardo DiCaprio.

In 2019, Michael Cohen – former fixer for Trump – testified that the former reality star had instructed a straw bidder to drive up a portrait of himself at an auction in 2013, Artnet reported at the time.

A clipping Cohen gave to Congress identified the bidder as Rahr – who is known for his extensive art collection of pieces by the likes of Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Damien Hirst, and Jeff Koons.

In 2013, Mark Cuban told Forbes that Rahr’s notorious emails were some of the best he had ever seen. Those emails would often include attachments of Rahr doing a variety of activities – from partying with bikini clad women to accepting an award for a $10million gift he made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Celebrities from Oprah to Jay Leno were on the listserve for the emails, which often included wild subject lines.
