Smothers vanished the night of November 3 after leaving a bowling alley in Queens with her boyfriend of 11 years after celebrating her birthday with friends.

According to a missing person’s report, her boyfriend told her family that the pair had gotten into a ‘heated argument’ before she got out of her 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid and walked away.

He said she left her purse, wallet, keys and ID behind.

The boyfriend, who is the father of her two children, said he last saw Smothers a mile away at a McDonald’s.

The missing person’s report said Smothers’ car, which had New Jersey license plates, was also missing.

It is not yet clear if it is the same car the body was found in on Wednesday.

The car, which was found on Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park, didn’t have any license plates on it.

Police haven’t said if they have a suspect.

Her family said they became concerned when Smothers didn’t show at her mother’s house in the Bronx where her two children were staying while she was out.

‘She would have never walked away without her things,’ Destini’s aunt, Shareen King, told NBC’s Dateline last year.

‘And in the middle of the night. It’s not like her.

‘She loves those children and would do anything for them. She wouldn’t just leave them.

‘And there’s no way in hell she’s not calling her mama. My sister is just devastated.’
