Brilliant video shows a dog furiously ripping up mail EVERY TIME it’s put through the letter slot – and now the toy poodle’s owners are encouraging people to send her letters to shred

  • Jake, 28, from Seattle, Washington, and his wife Taylor have been sharing videos of their dog Louise (Louie for short) tearing into their mail every time it arrives
  • He said Louie’s behavior began when quarantine started because their presence at home ensures their five-year-old dog is awake during the daily mail drop
  • Louie now likes to wait on a chair in their front window to wait for the mailman

A couple has revealed that their ‘sweet’ toy poodle furiously rips up the mail every time it is tossed in their door slot — and they’re so charmed by her behavior that they’re encouraging people to send her letters to shred.

Jake, a 28-year-old designer from Seattle, Washington, and his wife Taylor have been sharing videos of their beloved dog Louise (Louie for short) tearing into their mail every time it arrives.

‘After quarantine started, like everyone, we spent more time at home, which meant Lou was awake when the mail came— and she did not like the papers coming through the door!’ he explained.

The hilarious footage proves that while five-year-old Louie is small, she is a force to be reckoned with.

As soon as the mailman starts placing envelopes and magazines in the slot, she starts jumping up and down and reaching for the papers with her teeth.

Jake said the furious behavior is actually completely out of character for their pet, which may explain why they’re so amused by it.

‘She’s a sweet dog the rest of the time, very cuddly and cute, but when she hears that mail truck rumble by, she changes!’ he said ‘

She doesn’t tear up anything else around the house, just anything that comes through that slot.’

Tearing into the mail has become a part of her daily routine, and she likes to wait on the back of a chair in their front window to see when the mailman is coming.

‘She has to defend our house from any invading junk mail or miscellaneous bills that come our way,’ he joked.

‘There’s the occasional casualty, like my birthday card,’ he admitted, ‘but it’s worth it just to see what funny thing she’ll do every day.

‘The mailman does know about it and he said, “I’m used to it — I am a mailman after all!’

Jake and Taylor have already created a website for Louie where people can sign up to be the first to send their dog something to tear into.

They also plan on doing mail shredding contests with prizes for winners.
