‘Enjoy the perfect sweet and savoury combination of ice-cream with fries. Each not sold separately,’ the company wrote on Facebook.

Speaking to Business Insider, Burger King explained that it designed the fries-ice-cream combo after realizing that customers like to order them separately and dip the fries in the ice cream.

They described the new dessert as ‘eccentric, but delicious.’

The idea has earned fans on social media.

‘Fries in an ice cream, welcome to peak 2020,’ wrote one Twitter user.

‘I was a cynic, until I converted,’ tweeted another. ‘Fries in ice-cream is the real deal. A combination spread simply by word of mouth from one erstwhile cynic-turned-fan to another sceptic. Smart move here by Burger King SG proving they’re “listening.”‘

The sweet tapioca balls, known as boba, are commonly found in milky tea drinks, which have been popular among tens of thousands of customers around the world, including Australia, the UK, and the US.

Despite it’s bizarre combination of cheese and honey-coated base, foodies who got their hands on a slice insisted the dessert pizza tasted better than it looked.

Lev Nachman, a University of California Irvine PhD candidate who’s conducting research in Taiwan, shared his glowing review on Twitter.

‘It’s happening. I’m having the mythical Taiwan exclusive boba pizza from Domino’s for dinner. Will report back on the situation later,’ he tweeted before eating.

He said he was pleasantly surprised by the flavor combination.

‘Omg it’s incredible. They nailed it. Not joking, everyone here needs to try this. The pizza is savory, but it’s sweetened with honey on top, the boba aren’t mushy,’ he said.

He also mentioned his friend who ‘daringly tried’ the new creation agreed the pizza was ‘in fact delicious’.

Also in 2019, Papa John’s in South Korea introduced an ‘American Hot Dog Pizza,’ which was made with eight whole hot dogs, with one fitting on every slice.

The pizza was also topped with chili salsa sauce, mozzarella cheese, cheddar potato mousseline, onions, dijon mustard sauce, pickle relish, and parsley, according to Chew Boom.

The pizza is only available for a limited time, and the chain is excitedly promoting it on Instagram.

But while it may be a hit in Asia, English-speaking commenters were left horrified comments, calling it ‘gross’ and an ‘abomination.’

‘Most disgusting thing I have ever seen,’ wrote one, while another chimed in: ‘No, no, no. Don’t call that thing American.’
