Colorado man, 32, ‘strangled and shot a teenage babysitter leaving her dead in a pumpkin patch after she bravely tried to stop him stealing a truck’

A man is accused of strangling and shooting a teen babysitter and leaving her dead in a pumpkin patch after she bravely tried to stop him stealing a truck from the property she was minding in rural Colorado.
Trevor George, 32, allegedly tried to steal a vehicle parked in a pumpkin patch outside a remote farmhouse in Windsor when the teen babysitter, who is yet to be identified, came out to stop the theft.
George strangled the teenager before shooting her dead, according to family members of people involved in the investigation.
A young girl, who was inside the home, then began screaming for help and George rushed in to silence her, the family said.
The girl’s mother is said to have arrived home to find the babysitter’s dead body outside the property and George strangling her daughter.

The 32-year-old allegedly threatened to kill the mother before fleeing the home and stealing another car from a nearby property.
Law enforcement attended the scene to find the mother and daughter hidden beneath the property in the crawl space.
George was seen driving the stolen vehicle 25 hours later.
Law enforcement tracked him down to a Shell gas station and tasered him before making their arrest.

He was taken into custody Friday and charged with auto theft and first-degree murder for allegedly killing the babysitter and first-degree attempted murder for allegedly trying to kill the young girl.
CBSDenver reported that he is also being charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender, first-degree assault, and four counts of felony menacing.
The girl and her mother are said to be in good physical condition but are struggling to recover from the emotional trauma of the attack.
