Chris Cuomo’s New York City apartment building threatened him with a $500 fine in August because he was seen not wearing a mask, despite lecturing viewers for months about the importance of face coverings.
According to an August 6 letter from the building’s management, Cuomo was seen on several occasions without a mask.
A copy of the letter was first obtained by Tucker Carlson of Fox News.
It comes after Cuomo spent months telling viewers about how important masks are – and in defiance of an official mandate issued by his NY Governor brother Andrew.
‘You have been observed entering and exiting the building and riding the elevator without the required face coverings,’ the letter reads.
‘Even though staff members have asked you to comply with this requirement, you have refused to do so.
CNN’s Chris Cuomo was threatened with a $500 fine because he was seen on several occasions not wearing a mask while walking around his New York City apartment building, according to Fox News
Tucker Carlson obtained a letter from the building’s management addressed to Cuomo. The letter is dated August 6
‘This is a violation of the Executive Order, building policy, and places other residents and our staff at risk.
‘There are no exceptions to this rule, and you are required to comply.’
The Executive Order referred to in the letter was issued by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo – Chris’ brother – who mandated all New Yorkers must wear a mask or a face covering when out in public and in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Chris Cuomo and CNN for comment.
Cuomo himself suffered from a bout of coronavirus in March and has since fully recovered – but is still required to wear a mask in public.
This is the second time this month that Carlson has revealed that the star from his rival network was spotted in public without a mask.
On Carlson’s October 6 broadcast, he aired a photo of Cuomo from the previous weekend smoking a cigar at a Long Island restaurant while not wearing a mask.
The letter to Cuomo comes just weeks after the CNN host blasted President Donald Trump as a ‘COVIDIOT’ for flouting COVID-19 safety protocols during and after his hospital stay. Trump is seen above removing his face mask on the White House balcony after his discharge from Walter Reed Medical Center on October 5
Cuomo criticized Trump for his October 4 ride alongside Secret Service agents outside Walter Reed Medical Center even though he was ill with COVID-19.
Carlson aired the images in a bid to call out Cuomo for his criticism of people who disobey the rules when it comes to following guidelines amid the pandemic.
‘Chris Cuomo calls us immoral for doubting the rules,’ Carlson said on his show. ‘Again, we don’t judge Chris Cuomo, Chris Cuomo judges us,’ Carlson added.
Earlier this month Cuomo was lampooned for labeling a video of President Donald Trump removing his face mask at the White House ‘propaganda,’ after he shared a similar video months ago.
On October 5, Cuomo appeared on air shortly after Trump returned from Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, to the White House via Marine One.
Upon his arrival, an infected Trump walked up the steps of the South Portico, removed his face mask and stared over the balcony as photographers snapped his picture.
On his October 6 show, Carlson aired photos of Chris Cuomo that showed the CNN anchor in public without a mask
According to Carlson, the images of Cuomo showed him at a restaurant with a cigar in hand. The photos are believed to have been taken on Long Island
Carlson aired the images just hours after Cuomo was lampooned for labeling a video of President Donald Trump removing his face mask at the White House ‘propaganda’
Trump then disappeared into the White House, where staffers were present, and briefly returned to the balcony. He did not put his face mask back on during this time.
CNN reported that Trump’s ascent into the White House was for a reshoot as part of a potential campaign video, and Cuomo used this to level criticism at the president.
‘There he is, hair blown majestically. Reshooting the scene for his own ad,’ said Cuomo, adding ‘What a bunch of bull****.’
Cuomo scrutinized Trump for flouting face masks after numerous members of his inner circle, White House staffers, journalists and workers at the Cleveland presidential debate contracted COVID-19 after his diagnosis.
‘He didn’t just walk in the White House one time with no mask tonight. He had his video crew capture that stupid scene again so he could put out propaganda,’ he said.
Cuomo also took Trump to task for riding around in an SUV alongside Secret Service agents outside Walter Reed Medical Center on the evening of October 4.
But on social media, a number of people pointed out that Cuomo had shared a comparable video that was accused of being ‘staged’ in April. Cuomo, who contracted COVID-19 in March, filmed a video of himself reuniting with his wife and three children after quarantining
The president, who was eager to wave to a crowd of supporters that had gathered outside of the hospital, was taken for a spin even though he was ill with coronavirus and could have potentially infected the Secret Service agents assigned to protect him.
‘I loved seeing him do that victory lap in that limo,’ Cuomo said.
‘Thank God. You know why? I knew that meant he has to be okay. Not the people who were in there with him.
‘PPE up to their nose. Now they gotta quarantine. He doesn’t give a damn.’
The CNN host added: ‘And now I don’t have to feign any extra measure of compassion.
‘Because he went out there, whatever happens now is on him.
‘The White House is a cluster. He returned to a cluster and took his mask off.’
Cuomo said: ‘That is COVIDIOCY. He’s a COVIDIOT.
‘”Ah, you’re disrespecting the president.” No, he disrespects the presidency.
‘All that’s left is the residue of outrage, because that’s the only emotion I have.’
But on social media, a number of people hit back at Cuomo over his criticism of Trump’s ‘propganda.’
Cuomo was accused earlier this year of ‘staging’ a similar video of him greeting his family after he recovered from COVID-19 and emerged from quarantine.
Cuomo, who contracted COVID-19 in March, filmed a video of himself reuniting with his wife and three children after ‘several weeks locked in his basement.’
Benny Johnson led critics on social media who recalled that Cuomo broke quarantine while infected with COVID-19 earlier this year
Footage showed him walking up the stairs to greet his kids at his Hamptons mansion, three weeks after he went into ‘quarantine’ to recover from coronavirus.
‘All right,’ he said. ‘Here it is. The official re-entry. From the basement. Cleared by CDC, a little sweaty, just worked out. It happens. This is what I have been dreaming of. Literally for weeks.’
‘This is the dream. Just to be back up here doing normal things,’ he said as he embraced his wife Cristina, who has also since recovered from COVID-19.
But he faced backlash when confessed during a interview on his Sirius XM radio show on April 13 that he had broken quarantine and left his basement on Easter.
During that time, an infected Cuomo got into a verbal altercation with a cyclist who called him out for not quarantining.
On his radio show, Cuomo said he didn’t ‘want some jack*** loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my face and in my space and talk bull**** to me,’ said Cuomo. ‘I don’t want to hear it.’
The cyclist filed a police report against Cuomo and disparaged him on shows like ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ on Fox News.
Benny Johnson, Chief Creative Officer for Turning Point USA, noted that much of Cuomo’s criticisms of Trump could be applied to him.
Johnson wrote: ‘CNN’s Chris Cuomo, who broke quarantine while COVID positive, got into a fight with a biker without a mask, likely infected his family with the virus, faked his emergence from his basement on air…
‘Is offended that President Trump took his mask off on his balcony.’
Others shared similar sentiments and wondered how Cuomo could be outraged.
‘Chris Cuomo was out in public while infected with COVID, got into an altercation with someone, yelled at them WHILE COVID + and had a police report filed on him. Please tell us more you [clown],’ one Twitter user wrote.
One man said he would ‘pass’ on Cuomo’s ‘holier than thou speech.’
One person asked ‘why is he lecturing the rest of use about social distancing, mask-wearing and credibility?’
Another user added: ‘Remember when Chris Cuomo broke his quarantine while infected with COVID and went out into public and got in a heated altercation with a biker?? Mainstream was SILENT… ‘
