DAVID MARCUS: Joe, we told you so! Biden’s migrant policies are destroying lives

Sometimes there is nothing left to do but say, ‘I told you so.’

Bidenvilles are popping up in New York City, as dozens of migrants slept on the streets outside a Big Apple hotel on Sunday night. They were staging a protest. One can hardly blame them.

Democratic Mayor Eric Adams had just rudely evicted them from their hotel rooms. That’s not how to treat a guest. New York City is a sanctuary city after all.

What could have possibly happened?

‘There is no more room,’ an exasperated Adams wailed a few weeks ago. The city is running out of space (and money) to house vulnerable migrant women and children, so these single males were being shipped off to an ice-cold, makeshift barracks in Brooklyn.

It’s little more than a ferry terminal with some cots. As you can imagine, they didn’t go willingly. The scene was absolute chaos. Cops were deployed to usher the migrants into buses. The hotel locked its doors to those who refused to leave. Activists and migrants ran back and forth imploring the migrants not to cooperate.

In the hotel’s defense, local papers have been awash in stories of trashed rooms, disrespectful behavior, wasted food, and even sex in the hallways of businesses meant to house tourists, not refugees. This is the new reality in NYC.

How embarrassing for Biden as he is set to visit the Big Apple on Tuesday? Will he visit the encampments that now bear his name?

Bidenvilles — that’s the moniker for these desperate pop-up villages. You can find Bidenvilles in El Paso and Austin, Texas, Washington DC, Chicago and elsewhere.

In the depths of The Great Depression, shanty towns of America’s destitute were called Hoovervilles after President Herbert Hoover. It only seems fair that Biden joins the club, because this is overwhelmingly his fault.

Who knew that ignoring an historic mass migration crisis might have consequences? If only someone was warning us.

Of course, I kid. There were warnings. Republicans posted huge, neon-billboards flashing: DANGER!

For years, conservatives have been screaming that there is a critical problem on our southern border. President Trump was building a wall. He forced migrants to remain in Mexico, while they awaited their asylum claims to be processed. Texas Governor Greg Abbott started busing migrants from his state to northern cities. And for all that Republicans were demonized, laughed at, and dismissed.

Yet, the press didn’t go wild until Florida’s Ron DeSantis charted a plane to fly a few dozen undocumented people to an elite liberal island off the coast of Massachusetts, then the mainstream media really woke-up.

America was treated to wall-to-wall coverage of the brave citizens of Martha’s Vineyard spending a day with hispanic people, who weren’t their landscapers. Biden quicky came to their rescue, shipping these inconvenient migrants off to a military base on the mainland.

Funny how folks in Del Rio, Texas are told to deal with it, but on The Vineyard, a solution was found immediately.

Today, Democrats in New York City and even Gavin Newsom in California are crying into their lattes about their communities being overwhelmed. They just can’t handle it any more.

‘We are at our breaking point,’ says Adams who is threatening to deny shelter to the migrants. His message is we’re a sanctuary city minus the sanctuary.

Well, what the hell did these thoughtless, virtue-signaling liberals think was going to happen when they opened America’s border to uncontrolled illegal immigration and advertised their cities as homebase?

From October 2022 until today, U.S. border authorities had more than 718,000 migrant encounters at the border – over the same period one year ago, there were 518,000 encounters. With this kind of flood of humanity, of course they were going to make their way north.

Now Adams and Newsom are complaining that it’s all so unfair – that our great cities cannot be put upon in such a way. They are begging the federal government for help, and since they are Democrats, what they are really begging for is more money.

But that’s not a solution.

The real solution, or at least a start to one, is something that neither Newsom or Adams have the political courage to say — that President Biden and his bungling Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas (who should have been impeached yesterday) have utterly failed.

Maybe instead of demonizing Republican governors for transporting migrants north, which – let’s be honest – was a cry for help, someone in the White House should have paid attention.

They called it a human rights abuse to fly migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in the middle of summer. Well, what do you call this, as migrants sleep outside in the middle of winter in New York?

The typical hysterical voices on the left are predictably silent when the consequences of their witless and frankly heartless border policies play out in real life.

Some Congressional Democrats are openly criticizing Biden’s border policies, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. They sent the White House a letter demanding, and get this, that Biden allow more migrants into America.

Even in the face of a mounting crisis in her own city, AOC stands firm to her progressive kamikaze mission. How brave!

The staggering tragedy here is that this was all so predictable. From the moment Vice President Kamala Harris became the border czar, she made clear that the administration’s answer to the problem was to wait for Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua to become stable societies, so that their citizens would voluntarily stay home.

How embarrassing for Biden as he is set to visit the Big Apple on Tuesday? Will he visit the encampments that now bear his name?

They might as well have gone Unicorn hunting or invest in time travel. It was always nonsense and now the entire country is reaping the mayhem.

No, Martha’s Vineyard couldn’t support the migrants, but that was a microcosm of the country. Anyone with eyes can see that the Trump administration had the border under far more control. Anyone with a brain knows that those policies can be restored. And anyone with a heart knows that Biden’s policies aren’t compassionate. They are destroying lives.

We told the administration and the lefty media, but they wouldn’t listen. Now the situation appears all but beyond repair.

It’s another day and another Bidenville busting local budgets and making our cities less safe. It didn’t have to be this way, but the Democrats thought they knew better.

So yes, ‘we told you so.’
