Desperate search for Pennsylvania woman, 29, who vanished near a hiking trail on Saturday

Police in southeastern Pennsylvania have called off the three-day search for a 29-year-old woman who went missing in a state park on Saturday.

Nicole Elizabeth Ebaugh, 29, of New Freedom, Pennsylvania was last seen on Saturday near Heritage Rail Trail County Park in Springfield Township, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Investigators said that they do not suspect foul play in Ebaugh’s disappearance. 

Witnesses reported seeing Ebaugh at the Glatfelters Station Road Parking Area sometime between 10:45am and 12:45pm.

Her car, a yellow Volkswagen Beetle, was found in the parking lot after her family reported her missing.

Ebaugh was last seen on Saturday near Heritage Rail Trail County Park in Springfield Township, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Officials combed the half-mile radius around Glatfelter Station on horseback, helicopter, and on foot with the help of some 150 volunteers, some of whom brought dogs, according to WHP-TV.

As of Tuesday, they have been unable to locate her. Authorities decided to call off the search while investigators looked for clues that could shed light on her disappearance.

‘The initial investigation revealed that her disappearance was not suspicious/criminal in nature at this time,’ Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kevin Kochka told the York Daily Record on Tuesday.

‘Obviously there is more in our investigation that we know however because it is an ongoing investigation we can not disclose.

‘We are continuing our investigation and are following the leads that we have developed.’

Kochka added: ‘At the end of the day, we have a missing 29 year old and the family, community, and investigators are very worried.

‘The Pennsylvania State Police, York criminal investigations unit, continue to work around the clock and are utilizing all resources available to help locate Ebaugh. … As possible leads develop, future searches will be conducted.’

‘We want to bring closure to the family in some shape, form or fashion, the best we can,’ said Kurtis Timmer, head of the South-Central PA Search and Rescue Team.

‘We want to make sure that we do the best that we can to bring that person home.’
