President Donald Trump may have lost the popular vote by 7 million, but he still earned $1.1 million in revenue from his campaing and related entities through hotel expenses in the final weeks of the race, according to new filings.
Trump kept up a hectic travel pace in the final weeks of the campaign, jetting to his Las Vegas casino as well as Mar-a-Lago and other properties he owns.
At the same time, his campaign kicked in cash for use of those facilities, which it is required to do when it uses them. The $1.1 million from his campaign and affiliated donors in the final weeks is part of the larger $6.7 the Trump campaign and donors paid at his properties in total, according to the Washington Post.
The filings show Trump Victory spent $1.06 million in the quarter that ended in November, with the balance coming from Trump’s campaign.
The spending came at Trump properties in Vegas, Doral and Mar-a-Lago in Florida, and Bedminster in New Jersey.
In addition to staying over in Vegas and at Mar-a-Lago, Trump attended fundraisers at Doral and Bedminster.
The bookings for rooms and fees of up to $100,000 help the clubs at a time when the coronavirus has hit the leisure industry.
Donald Trump Jr., who helps run the Trump Organization, also got a personal boost. The Republican National Committee paid $300,000 to a company he owns to buy copies of his book, Liberal Privilege, the DailyBeast reported.
People who gave up to $100 to the RNC, which also helped foot legal bills contesting mail-in ballots, got copies of the book.
Funds went to the Pursuit Venture LLC incorporated in Delaware.
Trump traveled to Las Vegas and his property there in his unsuccessful effort to win Nevada and Arizona

Trump’s Bedminster course also hosted fundraisers
Trump has been among the most publicly enthusiastic backers of Trump’s decision to fight the election results.
Trump has continued to haul in additional funds, raising $207 million since election day after repeated appeals for his election defense fund.
Many of those funds are going to a leadership PAC that is very lightly limited and can pay for Trump’s travel and other activities.
His campaign also spent $2 million on election lawyers, filings reveal.
