Florida man breaks world record after seeing Avengers: Endgame 191 TIMES in movie theaters

A Florida man is now a Guinness World Record holder after watching the three-hour-long Marvel movie Avengers: Endgame a whopping 191 times in movie theaters in just 94 days.

Ramiro Alanis, a 32-year-old personal trainer from Riverview, officially smashed the Guinness World Record for ‘The Most Cinema Productions Attended – Same Film’ after watching the most recent Avengers flick nearly 200 times in 2019.

But Ramiro, who juggled his movie-going with his job as a supervisor at his family’s construction business, said his achievement came at a cost, wiping out his social life and causing him to lose 16 lbs. of muscle from not going to the gym.

Ramiro’s record-breaking movie streak began on April 26, 2019, when Avengers: Endgame premiered in theaters.

‘I had bought tickets to watch it five times on the opening weekend so I wouldn’t miss a thing,’ he told CNN. ‘Then, I started going every single day, posting my rounds or views because I really love the film.’

The film had the biggest box office opening ever, at $1.2 billion, and became the highest-grossing film of all time (a title it later lost to Avatar after it was reissued in China).

‘After seeing how Endgame was shattering records and making history, I decided to do it too,’ he said.

Ramiro saw that the previous record for ‘Most Cinema Productions Attended – Same Film’ was held by Anthony Mitchell, who watched Avengers: Infinity War 103 times at his local movie theatre in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He set out to break it, seeing Endgame — which is three hours and two minutes long, not including credits — twice ion weekdays and four or five times on Saturdays and Sundays.

Ramiro told Guinness World Records that he had lots of support from ‘family, friends, managers and staff from the theaters I visited,’ as well as fans who followed his triumph on social media.

But he also spent all of his free time at the theater, giving up his social life and his gym habit.

‘The most difficult part about this attempt was giving up my social life with my family, the gym (I lost 16 pounds of muscle), and managing my work hours and screening times at the theaters,’ he said.

Bu June 14, 2019, he’d watched the movie 116 times. Before the end of July, it was 191 times.

Last month, he confirmed that he had officially been recognized for breaking the record, writing on Twitter: ‘I’m Officially Amazing!!!’

He said that of all the characters, he best relates to Captain America.

‘His character embodies many values that I stand for, righteousness, kindness, thinking about others before himself,’ he said.

As for anyone who wants to attempt a similar feat, Ramiro says they should ‘plan accordingly to your record attempt and prepare yourself as much as you can, physically and mentally, all things are possible.
