Horrific moment 100 dogs covered in fleas and feces are rescued from hoarder’s California home

A California dog rescue agency loved by celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Aniston and Chrissy Teigan has rescued 100 dogs covered in fleas and feces living in a hoarder’s filthy house of horrors.

On December 9 Wagmor Pet Hotel & Spa received a call about 15 dogs in the yard of a trailer home in Bakersfield that needed help.

But when staffers arrived they found 100 dogs roaming around the property and living in squalid conditions covered in feces, rotting garage and the corpses of dead dogs.

‘As we walked through the property more and more dogs crawled out of garbage piles, I was overwhelmed. I was physically sick,’ Wagmor Pets owner Melissa Bacelar said to DailyMail.com.

‘The worst part of the search was in the back shed. Puppy corpses lined the floors. A nursing mama dog stood barking at us protecting her dead puppies,’ she added.

‘The smell coming from it was so strong I could barely breathe,’ Bacelar said.

She said as she tried to help a mother dog protecting her dead pups, the woman who called her to the property screamed.

I turned to see a dead dog lying on a trash heap,’ Bacelar said.

A woman who lived in the trailer then came out with her feet caked in dog feces and a puppy in her arms.

The woman claimed she had five or six dogs in the trailer and two other people walked onto the property and said the dogs were theirs.

‘They said that they saved them and it got out of hand,’ Bacelar said.

They said that Animal Control had been to the home and said they couldn’t help with the overflow of animals.

The people agreed to let Wagmor take the dogs to find homes for them.

Shocking video from the scene shows every room of the trailer home completely littered in layers of garbage and dog feces.

In the bedroom a tattered mattress was covered in dog feces. Small puppies were seen running around the home and barking.

Wagmor shared one video of a shivering tiny puppy covered in fleas. Bacelar said that the dogs were terrified and they had to be coaxed into cages to be rescued.

‘I wrangled as many dogs as I could and called my team. The next day my manager, Ellie Moser and a volunteer went. They went into the house. Ellie said the house was uninhabitable. There was no running water. There were 10-20 dogs. There was dogs and human feces everywhere. She said the floors were covered,’ Bacelar said.

As the team combed through the property they saw two tiny puppies running under the trailer. When they ripped the siding off to get the puppies they found dogs running through poop and crawling over dead dog bodies.

‘The woman that lives there is in danger and we plan to help her next. But our goal was to get every dog out. Some are sweet. Some are scared,’ Bacelar said.

‘We have nine pregnant and nursing moms. Endless puppies. Endless dogs. I’m writing this and thinking that nine months ago I only had the ability to rescue five to six dogs a week. This week I saved 100,’ she said.

‘The vet bills are so high. The food, supplies, man power. But we are doing it. Somehow. All of those dogs will have a home,’ Bacelar said determined.

Now many of those young dogs are up for adoption on the Wagmor Pets website.
