Jane Fonda sheds tears as she honors Lily Tomlin at her hand and foot imprint ceremony in Hollywood

Jane Fonda got emotional while honoring her Grace and Frankie costar Lily Tomlin at her hand and foot imprint ceremony on Friday afternoon.

While delivering a heartwarming speech about the comedy legend, 82, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood the 84-year-old Oscar winner wiped away tears as she reflected on her longtime pal’s career over the past five decades.

Ahead of her friend becoming immortalized on the Forecourt of the Stars, the Monster-In-Law star took the stage in a white tweed blazer with black trim and gold statement earrings to introduce Tomlin.

The audience was packed with A-listers, including West Side Story star Rita Moreno and June Diane Raphael, who cheered on the four-time Emmy winner as she placed her hands and feet in the cement. 

In addition to writing her name and date, Tomlin paid tribute to Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In character Edith Ann by scribbling her first name into the wet burlap. 

Fonda and Tomlin first met backstage of the Broadway show Appearing Nightly in 1977, before coming together on screen for the first time in their hit film 9 to 5, released back in 1980.

34 years later, the women, who remained close over the years, reunited onscreen for Netflix’s much-loved sitcom Grace and Frankie, which recently wrapped its seventh and final season.   

Earlier this week, the Netflix unveiled the trailer for the final 12 episodes of Grace and Frankie, which resumes on April 29.

‘It was a crazy ride with you,’ Grace tells Frankie in the reflective two-minute preview. ‘But I’d rather take a crazy ride with you than a normal ride with anybody else.’

This season, the Malibu roommates – whose husbands left them to get married to each other – are in counseling with a therapist played by Dollface star Beth Grant.

‘You’re going to want to look into her anger issues. I’ll send you my file,’ Frankie advises.
