Jeffrey Epstein ‘rape victim’ arrives for Day Four Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking trial

The former masseuse who accused Jeffrey Epstein of rape has arrived at the New York City courthouse for the fourth day of Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking trial.

Teresa Helm is not part Maxwell‘s trial but has called her a ‘master manipulator’ over claims she lured her to Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse so he could assault her.

Now 41 years old and living in Ohio, Helm was seen arriving to the courthouse Thursday morning in a navy blue blouse and flanked by her attorney Sigfrid McCawley.

She is just one of the many women who claim to have been sexually abused by the pair who have come to New York in the hopes that Maxwell will be brought to justice.

On Wednesday, Jennifer Kalin – who claimed Epstein forced her into a sham marriage – sat in the overflow room of the federal court as Maxwell’s first accuser was cross examined.

On Wednesday, Jennifer Kalin – who claimed Epstein forced her into a sham marriage – sat in the overflow room of the federal court as Maxwell’s first accuser was cross examined

Kalin, wearing a dark coat and looking nervous, was accompanied by her lawyer Brad Edwards, who represents several Epstein victims.

Edwards said that Kalin was there to ‘show solidarity with the other victims’ and wanted to see the trial.

Kalin’s story is one of the most appalling to emerge from Epstein’s world.

She was reportedly forced to marry Karyna Shuliak, Epstein’s final girlfriend who he called from prison before killing himself.

Shuliak was from Belarus and the wedding is said to have been so she could stay in the US and be with Epstein

A photo posted onto Kalin’s Facebook page before it was taken down shows her smiling with Shuliak.

The marriage happened in October 2013 and Kalin divorced Shuliak in July 2019 after he was arrested, the New York Daily News has reported.

Helm said she was approached by the ‘polite’ socialite about a job as a massage therapist in 2002, when she was 22 and attending college in California.

Helm recalled that she ‘immediately felt comfortable’ around Maxwell and was excited to fly to New York for the ‘dream’ job interview.

She gave Maxwell a massage and was then told to meet Epstein at his Upper East Side lair, where he sexually assaulted her during a foot massage, Helm told the BBC on Wednesday.

Helm claims that before going to meet Epstein, Maxwell told her: ‘You know, make sure that you give Jeffrey what he wants, because Jeffrey always gets what he wants’.’

‘If it were not for her I would never have got myself to the home of a predator,’ Helm added.

‘Now I know for certain this is part of the tactic of a master manipulator.’

Helm is not a part of Maxwell's ongoing trial in New York, where she faces six counts including sex trafficking and conspiracy. She denies the charges

Helm’s story is not part of the case that federal prosecutors in New York are bringing against Maxwell, who faces six counts including sex trafficking and conspiracy. She denies the charges and the trial resumes for its fourth day on Thursday.

However, Helm described to the BBC the role that Epstein’s ‘partner’ allegedly played in luring unsuspecting woman to meet the convicted pedophile who killed himself in prison.

‘I really felt that I was in a home of a woman who was educated and successful,’ Helm told the BBC of meeting Maxwell at her New York townhouse.

Helm said that in an initial meeting she performed a massage on Maxwell, who she thought was the intended client.

Maxwell supposedly ‘fell asleep’ halfway through, leading Helm to think ‘it’s going really well’.

However, Helm says she was later told about a ‘second part’ of the interview where she would meet Epstein at his townhouse on the Upper East Side.

Helm was one of five women who sued Epstein’s estate in Federal District Court in Manhattan in 2019, months after his death.

The filing accused the billionaire pedophile of rape, battery and false imprisonment and is seeking unspecified damages.

The lawsuit stated: ‘As Teresa was studying massage at the California Healing Arts College, this seemed like a dream opportunity, but her hopes were dashed when it quickly turned into sexual assault.’

The Sun reported that since the filing in 2019, Teresa and the four other women have agreed to participate in a Victim Compensation Fund.

The Jeffrey Epstein estate and 61 victims entered settlement talks last year and are reportedly set to receive shares of a $100million payout.

Isabel Maxwell arrives with her friend and spokesperson, Leah Saffian on Thursday

Ghislaine’s siblings Isabel and Kevin are seen outside the NYC courthouse to attend the third day of her sex trafficking trial

Maxwell’s siblings Isabel, Kevin and Ian have all shown up to the trial in support of their sister.

Speaking outside court after the trial wrapped on Wednesday, Kevin said he was ‘pleased’ to be there.

He said: ‘It gave me tremendous relief to be close to her and to actually see her in the flesh, to talk to her. That’s the first time I have spoken to her personally in over 500 days’.

Ian Maxwell said his sister was looking ‘pretty well notwithstanding the conditions of detention,’ which his family recently lodged a complaint with the UN about.

He added that he would not comment on the case out of ‘respect for the justice system’.

In court on Wednesday, Maxwell’s first accuser known as ‘Jane’ testified in the Federal District Court in Lower Manhattan that Epstein drove her to Mar-A-Lago to meet Donald Trump when she was 14 years old.

The meeting would have been in 1994, long before Trump was president.

Jane also said that she was flown around on Epstein’s private plane with a ‘number of individuals,’ including Prince Andrew.

However, Jane claimed that she was never directed to have sex with any of Epstein’s associates nor was she asked to recruit other girls.

Jane was also quizzed about the at least five women who took part in ‘orgies’ and ‘sexualized massages’ she claims she was forced into while under age.

One of the girls, who were described collectively as ‘tall’ and ‘thin’ was named Sophie, and Jane agreed with the defense that the woman ‘knew the routine’ and that she would ‘make out with other girls during the intercourse.’

In emotional testimony that at one point left Jane loudly sobbing, she told the court her first meeting with Maxwell was so ‘significant’ because ‘it was when that sort of fun, casual relationship with her just changed.’

During cross examination, defense lawyer Laura Menninger however suggested that Jane’s background as an actress may impact her testimony in court.

Menninger asked if it was fair to say that soap operas involve plots with ‘tangled interpersonal relationships’, and Jane agreed.

The six charges against Maxwell:

THE CHARGES

Conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts (5 years max sentence)

Enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts (20 years)

Conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (20 years)

Transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (10 years minimum, life maximum)

Sex Trafficking Conspiracy

Sex Trafficking of a Minor

Ghislaine Maxwell also faces two charges of perjury but those counts are due to be tried after her sex crimes trial.

The charges relate to testimony she gave in 2016 in a defamation case filed against her by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.

THE ‘FACTS’

Prosecutors say Maxwell groomed three girls between 1994 and 1997 for Epstein.

They are not named in the indictment, but she allegedly targeted them in London, Florida, New York and New Mexico.

Maxwell, it is alleged, would befriend the girls by asking them about their life and their schooling. She would put them at ease by taking them to the movies and taking them shopping, winning their trust to later deliver them to Epstein, it’s alleged.

To ‘normalize’ the abuse that would come later, prosecutors say she undressed in front of the girls herself and asked them sexual questions.

She then not only facilitated Epstein abusing them, prosecutors say, but took part in some of it herself.

The alleged sex abuse includes ‘sexualized group massages’.

The indictment also says Maxwell made the girl feel ‘indebted’ to Epstein by encouraging them to take money from him and let him pay for their education and travel.

The PA, the planes and the properties: Ghislaine Maxwell’s ‘life of luxury as Jeffrey Epstein’s second in command’ is laid bare in series of images shown to sex trafficking case jury

ByEmine Sinmaz for the Daily Mail

Ghislaine Maxwell‘s life of opulence as Jeffrey Epstein‘s ‘second-in-command’ was laid bare in court yesterday.

Jurors in the 59-year-old British socialite’s trial were shown never-before-seen photographs of paedophile Epstein’s £60 million fleet of jets, which he allegedly used to shuttle teenage girls between his lavish homes.

Prosecutors allege the planes flew between his private Caribbean island, New Mexico ranch, New York City townhouse and an 8,600 sq ft Parisian apartment near the Arc de Triomphe.

The travel was arranged by an array of personal assistants, including Sarah Kellen, with several pictures of her shown to the jury.

Epstein’s chief pilot Larry Visoski told the court in New York: ‘[Epstein] had an array of personal assistants, almost like professional shoppers, because there was a lot of items that needed to be purchased for all of the properties that were being acquired.’

He named Miss Kellen, now 42, as the person he spoke to most about scheduling flights. The court heard the pair spoke so often, the pilot had her number on speed dial.

Miss Kellen has previously been described as Maxwell’s ‘lieutenant’ in Epstein’s circle of abuse and has been accused of playing a pivotal role in the scandal, helping to procure young girls.

She has been named as the chief fixer who travelled the world with Epstein and was accused by lawyers in legal filings of ‘bringing girls to Epstein’s mansion to be abused’.

Miss Kellen was said to have had a ‘Rolodex’ of women she would call for massages at Epstein’s mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

A 2008 deal by Epstein with the US authorities, after he pleaded guilty to procuring a child for sex, saw him strike an agreement protecting his unindicted alleged co-conspirators.

Among the four given future immunity was Miss Kellen, who went on to run her own business after leaving Epstein’s employment, but from one of his properties in New York.

She later reinvented herself as ‘Sarah Kensington’, and became an interior designer who boasts of renovating corporate apartments in New York, the Caribbean and Paris.

On her interior design website in 2015, she described being ‘fortunate to say that I’ve been able to travel to many locations around the world, which in turn has broadened my designing skills’.

But in an interview last year, Miss Kellen, who is married to American racing car driver Brian Vickers, insisted: ‘I’m no monster.’

When approached outside her £3.4 million New York home, she claimed she was a victim, saying: ‘I’ve been made out to be such a monster – but it’s not true. I’m a victim of Jeffrey Epstein. I was raped and abused weekly.’

The photographs of Miss Kellen were part of a batch entered into evidence which reveals the life of luxury Maxwell led as Epstein’s closest confidante.

Epstein had a Hawker Siddeley 125, a Gulfstream G2B, a helicopter and a Boeing 727 dubbed the ‘Lolita Express’ amid claims he used it to fly underage girls around the world.

That plane, which is more than 130ft long, was fitted with an office dubbed ‘the red room’ because of its furniture, a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a lounge area with a large round sofa, and a ‘full decked-out’ kitchen.

The jury were also shown pictures of Epstein’s £164 million property empire, including Little St James, his private island in the US Virgin Islands, worth around £50 million.

Epstein also owned the neighbouring island, Great St James, which is valued at £14 million, while he had a £12 million mansion in Florida.

Other properties included an 8,000-acre, £21 million ranch in New Mexico, a £10 million Paris apartment, and a £57 million seven-storey townhouse on New York’s Upper East Side.
