  • It is understood the suspects pulled up alongside security cars protecting Lacey
  • One of those wanted in connection with the incident then attempted to steal one of their cars – which had been empty – before being shot at by an officer

Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey’s security team opened fire on two suspects after an attempted carjacking outside her home, police said. 

The shooting happened in Granada Hills at around 6:20pm local time Saturday, authorities confirmed. 

It is understood the suspects had pulled up alongside two vehicles which were part of the detail protecting recently ousted Lacey.

One of those wanted in connection with the incident then attempted to steal one of their cars – which had been empty – before being shot at by an officer, The LA Times reports.

The two suspects then fled the scene, crashing the car they left in before escaping in another vehicle, LAPD Commander Alan Hamilton told ABC7

No one was injured in the incident. 

Police are now investigating the shooting and attempted carjacking; no arrests have been made and no details of the suspects released, Fox 11 reports. 

It is not thought the incident was a targeted at Lacey who was recently ousted after losing to former San Francisco DA George Gascon following a bitter election race.

In July Lacey criticized Black Lives Matter activists for showing up at her house in the middle of the night, leading her husband to pull a gun on them. 

Lacey apologized for the incident in the immediate aftermath.

But in a CNN interview, she said that the activists had crossed a line. 

‘I definitely don’t think you should be able to come onto someone’s property,’ she said.  ‘That crosses a line.’
