The Back to the Future star, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, has raised more than $1 billion toward Parkinson’s research through his charity organization in its 20-plus years of existence.

The organization’s focus, as stated on its website, ‘is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today.’

Fox told People of the fundraising efforts: ‘We are loading up all the cannons we can and pointing them at the target. One of them will fire and it will happen. The disease is a problem that will be there until you solve it. But we’re hopeful.’

He told the outlet that he’s ‘in a really good groove’ physically these days, as ‘every day is different.’

Fox told the outlet that while the circle of what he’s able to do ‘gets smaller,’ he’s happy he’s ‘found things in the middle of the circle that can’t be touched, like my family and the time I have with them.’
