A mum’s simple shopping hack has been labelled genius by supermarket customers.
Aldi shopper Mariee said masks and Covid awareness are making it difficult for fresh produce buyers to lick their fingers – the old solution for opening plastic bags.
The busy mum said she has been noticing more people struggling with the bags so offered them a simple solution – a trolley wipe.
Aldi shopper Mariee said people who once licked their fingers to open the plastic bags in the produce aisle are now struggling to open them while masked-up
‘I always use a trolley wipe for the handle of the trolley and then tie the wipe on the trolley side to repeatedly dampen my fingers,’ the clever mum revealed.
She said the hack has made her shopping trips much quicker and she no longer shares the struggle with the bags.
‘Not sure about the safety of the wipe once I’ve wiped the trolley though,’ she added.
Other customers were quickly on board labelling the hack a game changer, with the post attracting hundreds of comments and likes from interested shoppers.
‘Thankyou, I am a finger licker and struggle but will do this from now on,’ one woman said.
Others said they would happily take two of the trolley wipes to avoid the risk of contamination.
Mariee said she has been noticing more people wresting with the plastic bags each time she heads to the supermarket but wanted to offer them a simple solution
But some weren’t as impressed and asked the woman to think about her impact on the environment.
‘Just don’t use the single use plastic bags they make up a huge amount of rubbish for no reason. Your fruit and vegetables will be fine without them,’ one woman said.
Another insisted people buy their own material bags for their fresh produce.
One woman said she simply rubs the bag together using her index finger and thumb to open it easily.
