Jaheim was arrested after ‘more than a dozen dogs were found living in deplorable conditions at his New Jersey home,’ according to People.

The 43-year-old R&B singer was ‘charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal,’ according to a news release, posted to Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office‘s Facebook page.

His arrest came on on Monday morning after the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to a call about a ‘puppy in distress.’

Upon canvassing the performer’s property, officers located a total of six dogs in separate animal crates in the driveway of a Chamberlain Drive residence. 

The disturbing report also noted that a Pitbull terrier mix, who was ‘initially unresponsive in a water filled crate and subsequently had to be euthanized.’

Inside, additional dogs were also found in separate crates ‘partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces.’

In total, 14 dogs were released to Long Hill Kennel located in Hillsborough, New Jersey. 

Jaheim (born Jaheim Hoagland)’s court hearing is pending, and he is yet to break his silence on the matter. 

The star released his debut album Ghetto Love in 2001, which he followed the next year with his sophomore record Still Ghetto and singles Put That Woman First and Fabulous, both in 2013.
