An Australian cyclist is lucky to be alive after a near-miss with a car when he fell over the handlebars of his bike into the vehicle’s path while flying around a corner.
Dramatic dash cam of the startling incident captures the car driving down the road before a cyclist is spotted approaching from a side street.
The driver is forced to slam on the brakes after the male cyclist, who isn’t wearing a helmet, turns without stopping, loses control and falls off his bike in front of the car.
The cyclist, who appears shaken but not badly injured, gets up seconds later rubbing his head before retrieving his bike.
A concerned woman approaches the cyclist to check that he’s okay while the driver inspects for any potential damage at the front of his vehicle.

‘Close call with a cyclist wearing no helmet and going over his bars and hitting the front of my car,’ the footage was captioned on Dash Cam Car Owners Australia Facebook page.
The footage has since been inundated with hundreds of comments.
Most viewers believed the cyclist was at fault for failing to give way or giving a hand signal to indicate he was turning.
The cyclist was also roasted online for not wearing a helmet, which are mandatory is all Australian states and territories.
Fines for not wearing a helmet vary from the biggest penalty of $344 in New South Wales to as little as $25 in the Northern Territory.
‘The cyclists have to obey the road rules just like motorists, he should of had a helmet on,’ one viewer commented.

Others ridiculed the cyclist.
‘I remember my first day riding a bike too. Hopefully he gets better at it,’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘Probably drives his car the same way he rides his bicycle! Wont live long with carelessness like that!’
Some viewers praised the driver for his quick actions which may have saved the cyclist life.
‘Tried to brake quickly and he fell.. thank you driver for your attention to detail and stopping in time,’ one woman wrote.
