‘Every day in Paris, I kept saying, “I have a crush on you. I’m obsessed with you,”‘ he told Variety of his immediate attraction to the influencer. ‘I kept saying it until she believed it.’
They shared their first kiss at a Paris nightclub during the 10-day trip, and they started dating shortly after they returned to their respective homes in Los Angeles.
Getty proposed to Gorgeous at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in France in March 2018. They tied the knot at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California, on July 12, 2019, in front of 220 friends and family members.
Guests included actress Teri Hatcher, singer Bonnie McKee (who also performed), and YouTubers Kandee Johnson, Hannah Hart, Grace Helbig, Trisha Paytas, and Beautycon CEO Moj Madera.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is the oil heir’s godfather and a close friend of the Getty family, recorded a video toast for the newlyweds.

He detailed the ’emotional and exciting’ decision in an Instagram post, writing: ‘I have spent my entire life not in sync with the body I was born with and confined by an outwardly appearance that did not match my mind or soul.
‘It wasn’t until recently that I was even comfortable admitting this to myself, once I was able to look inwards and truly reflect on my authentic self.’
Getty explained the decision to undergo top surgery, describing the procedure as the start of the physical transition.
‘This surgery is something I have wanted for years and I can’t believe I will finally have the chest I have always dreamed of,’ Getty said.
The socialite acknowledged that it was a ‘privilege that I’m even able to move forward with this when for many it’s an impossible option due to their circumstance.
‘It’s not lost on me the many people who are having to navigate this alone and in silence.’

Getty said the ‘physical transition is new, so I’m taking my time to discover my most authentic self and which pronouns best suit me.
‘But for now, I know one thing is for certain I am Nats. To my trans brothers and sisters and non-binary family: I am here for you, I am here with you, and I love you.’
He later used the pronouns he/him in an interview with Paper magazine.
After Getty came out, Gorgeous shared a photo of herself with her spouse on her own Instagram page as a show of support, writing: ‘Can’t even begin to express how happy, proud and in awe I am of you, Nats.’
She also posted a video on her YouTube page documenting Getty undergoing top surgery in San Francisco.
Three months later, Gorgeous revealed she is pansexual while coming out ‘for the fourth time.’ She credited her spouse for helping her better understand her sexual orientation and gender identity journey.

At the time, Getty was still trying to figure out which pronouns best suited him. He later changed his pronouns to he/him
‘I came out as gay before I transitioned. I came out as transgender and then I came out as gay again,” she explained in the video shared on her YouTube channel.
‘Honestly, those are some of, if not my best, favorite memories. Searching deep within myself, finding out something different and putting a label on it.’
‘Since then, I have gotten married to that same person, who has since transitioned,’ she said of Getty. ‘It was actually through my husband Nats that this kind of was unlocked inside of me.’
Gorgeous noted that she fell in love with Getty because of who he is as a person, not his gender. She then announced she is pansexual, saying she sees it as ‘falling in love with the soul of somebody.’
Getty’s maternal great-grandfather, oil magnate J. Paul Getty, was the richest man in the world before he died in 1976 with an estimated wealth of between $700 million and $1 billion at the time.
He and his brother August Getty were raised by their parents Ariadne Getty and Justin Williams in Los Angeles. Their parents divorced in 2005.

The siblings were raised with their actor father’s surname. Their mother told Town & Country magazine that she wanted ‘them to grow up without the weight of the name.’
They didn’t even know they were Gettys until about 2000 after their parents split and they briefly moved with their mother to the UK.
It is not clear when Getty and his fashion designer brother started using their mother’s surname,
The Gettys have managed to maintain a significant share of the family fortune, but the money has not shielded subsequent generations from drug addiction, premature death, tabloid scandal, and violent attacks.
The long line of tragedies that have plagued the family has led some to think there is a ‘Getty curse.’
Getty’s uncle John Paul Getty III, was sensationally kidnapped for ransom as a teenager in 1973. The terrifying tale was brought to the big screen by Ridley Scott in the film ‘All the Money in the World.’

He was just 16 years old and living in Italy when members of the Italian mafia grabbed him off the street on July 10, 1973, as he returned home from a night out with friends.
He was thrown in the back of the van and taken 300 miles south to the mountains of Calabria, with his captors soon informing the teenager’s family that the boy would be safely returned after they paid a $17 million ransom.
His oil tycoon grandfather refused to pay the ransom, telling reporters at the time: ‘If I pay one penny now, I’ll have 14 kidnapped grandchildren.’
The family patriarch only agreed to pay a negotiated amount after the kidnappers cut off John Paul Getty III’s ear and mailed it to his family.
John Paul Getty III was finally released after four months in captivity. He later suffered a debilitating stroke that paralyzed him. He died in 2011 at the age of 54.
In November 2020, Getty’s uncle John Gilbert Getty was found unresponsive in a hotel room in San Antonio, Texas. It was later determined that he had died from complications of an accidental fentanyl overdose.
