Bloomberg News reported on the development Monday, citing people familiar with the ex-president’s thinking.
‘Once he says, “I am going to be raising money for my library,” he’s given up even the pretense of trying to run again,’ Anthony Clark, who has written about the politics surrounding presidential libraries, told Bloomberg.
Bloomberg News reported Monday that President Donald Trump is holding off plans for a presidential library because it might signal that he believes his political career is over, which could impact a potential 2024 White House bid

The libraries are expensive and take a long time to plan. The John F. Kennedy Library and Museum is in Boston, Massachusetts and first opened in October 1979, nearly 16 years after Kennedy’s death

DailyMail.com’s request for comment from Trump’s spokesperson went unreturned.
Technically a Trump library exists as part of the 15-library Presidential Library System under the National Archives and Records Administration, but in its current form, it consists of the Trump administration’s digital archive.
Clark also told Bloomberg he was doubtful Trump would ever have a true presidential library because they’re expensive to build and complicated to plan.
President Barack Obama has been out of office since 2017 and yet his Obama Presidential Center in Chicago will only start construction later this year.
Presidents traditionally start planning their libraries as they prepare to leave office.
Trump spent November through January attempting to overturn the election result.
Now at Mar-a-Lago, the ex-president is sending out statements, doing interviews – mostly by phone – and finding ways to stay in the news cycle as he tries to lord over the Republican Party.
On Easter Sunday, for example, Trump sent out, ‘Happy Easter to ALL including the Radical Left CRAZIES who rigged our Presidential Election, and want to destroy our country!’ which allowed him to be in the headlines again for the day.
There was no evidence of widespread voter fraud.
For more than 20 years, the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California labeled the Watergate scandal a ‘coup’
A library could allow Trump to define how he wants Americans to view his time in office.
However, even that’s not assured.
In 1990, when the Richard Nixon Library & Museum opened in Yorba Linda, California, exhibits called Watergate a ‘coup.’
Watergate, of course, refers to the break-in Nixon ordered at the Democratic National Committee headquarters, which at the time was in the Watergate building in Washington, D.C.
The ‘Watergate’ scandal resulted in Nixon being the first president in American history to resign, which he did in August 1974, after Republican Party leaders told the president he would not survive an impeachment trial.
Nixon’s library continued to label Watergate a ‘coup’ orchestrated by Nixon’s enemies for more than 20 years.
But in 2011, after Nixon’s death and after the museum was taken over by the National Archives, the Watergate exhibit was revamped that was ‘faithful to fact, balanced and devoid of political judgment,’ archivists said.
