Trump’s bizarre request ahead of debate showdown with Kamala Harris next week

Donald Trump has insisted that there should be no boxes or ‘artificial lifts’ used in his debate against Kamala Harris next week.

The bizarre demand came ahead of the presidential hopefuls’ showdown in Philadelphia.

Trump, who is 6-foot-3, took to his Truth Social platform to denounce the use of the height boosters as ‘cheating’.

‘No boxes or artificial lifts will be allowed to stand on during my upcoming debate with Comrade Kamala Harris,’ he said.

‘We had this out previously with former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he was in a debate, and he was not allowed a “lift.” It would be a form of cheating, and the Democrats cheat enough. “You are who you are,” it was determined!’

The issue has potential significance since past elections have shown that the taller candidate tends to win more of the popular vote.

This could be a problem for Harris, who at at 5-foot-4, will be dwarfed by Trump even if she wears heels.

Trump’s own height has been the source of debate after a discrepancy emerged

He self-reported his height and weight at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds prior to his booking at Fulton County jail in Georgia where he was previously indicted on election meddling charges.

The figures were different from the 6-foot-2, 240 pounds he claimed in April 2023, when he was indicted in New York on allegations of falsifying business records.

Ahead of the ABC debate, Trump’s team has also reportedly accepted that candidates’ microphones will be muted when they are not talking.

It is said to come as a blow to Harris, who was allegedly hoping to use one of his famous outbursts to her advantage during the face off.

Trump’s team was also given a boost after New York Judge Juan Merchan on Friday delayed his sentencing in the Stormy Daniels case until weeks after the November elections.

The decision sets sentencing for November 26th, when Americans will have voted and the results of the election should be known.

It had been scheduled for September 18th, which would have fallen just two months before Election Day.

Trump’s team had asked for a delay, while prosecutors had left the matter up to the judge’s discretion – something Merchan took as an indication prosecutors backed the move.
