Tucker Carlson attacks Joe Biden from El Salvador

Tucker Carlson last night raged at Democrats for failing to value American citizenship as he took his Fox News show to El Salvador to condemn Joe Biden‘s immigration stance.

Delivering his monologue from the Central American nation, Carlson denounced a bill on the House floor which would give undocumented immigrants a route to legal status if they have worked in US agriculture for at least 180 days.

‘One hundred and eighty days. That’s all it takes. That’s all American citizenship is worth at this point, apparently,’ Carlson said.

Raising the alarm over growing numbers of migrants at the border, he said: ‘The message that the Biden administration has sent to El Salvador and the countries around it couldn’t be clearer: The border is gone. We’ve erased it. Come join us.’

Biden sought to hit back at such criticism last night by saying in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos: ‘I can say quite clearly – don’t come over’.

Republicans accuse Biden of presiding over a crisis at the southern border by calling a halt to Donald Trump’s tough immigration policies when he took over in January.

Carlson used his appearance in El Salvador to accuse Democrats of ignoring the concerns of ‘actual Americans’ by softening US immigration policies.

‘Is there anyone in our country, in the United States, who sincerely believes that what we are seeing tonight on our border will improve our country?,’ he asked viewers.

‘Of course no one believes that. But it doesn’t matter, because the lives of actual Americas mean nothing to the people making these decisions.

‘Your happiness is not a consideration. It’s never even discussed in Washington.’

Carlson also attacked Democrats including congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for seeking to ‘enrich foreign nationals’ by offering benefits to migrants.

‘They’ve given up even trying to pretend that they are making life better for American citizens,’ he said of Democrats.

‘Ocasio-Cortez can feel like a hero when she offers free health care to the people of El Salvador. Someone who’s never had a job, giving away other people’s money.

‘By enriching foreign nationals, Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t have to worry about the Americans who live in Queens – the people that she’s supposed to be, is hired to represent and help.’

The 180-day bill condemned by Carlson is set to be put to a House vote on Thursday after it was introduced by Democrat Zoe Lofgren and Republican Dan Newhouse.

The so-called Farm Workforce Modernization Act previously passed the House in a 260-165 vote in 2019 but was not approved by the Senate.

It would offer a so-called Certified Agricultural Worker status to migrants who have worked at least 180 days in agriculture in the previous two years.

These migrants would also be able to pay a $1,000 charge to begin the path to getting a green card, some of them in as little as four years.

‘Stabilizing the workforce will protect the future of our farms and our food supply,’ said Lofgren when she introduced the bill.

‘The men and women who work America’s farms feed the nation. But many of them do so while living and working in a state of uncertainty and fear’.

The House will also consider a bill called the Dream and Promise Act which would create a path to permanent residency for some illegal migrants.

But Carlson condemned the plan on his show, saying Democratic plans would grant legal status to as many as four million people undocumented migrants in the US.

‘The only criterion: if they can prove they’ve worked in agriculture in the US for 180 days over the past two years,’ he said.

‘One hundred and eighty days. That’s all it takes. That’s all American citizenship is worth at this point, apparently.

‘So it’s starting to make sense why Joe Biden suspended all those deportations. 180 days, that’s all it takes. And, the clock is running.’

Biden pushed back against the Republican attacks in his interview with Stephanopoulos, noting that previous surges had taken place under Trump.

He said his administration has been trying to discourage people from crossing while it works to restore an asylum system undermined by his predecessor.

‘I heard the other day that they’re coming because they know I’m a nice guy. Yeah, well, here’s the deal. They’re not,’ Biden said.
