Makeover: Mario Lopez (left) portrays a sexy Colonel Harland Sanders (right), the real-life founder of KFC, who was known for his white hair and glasses
‘Is this real? This can’t be real,’ someone else commented — before discovering there was a dramatic trailer for the short film.
The movie, which is really more of a long commercial with a suspenseful plot, airs on Lifetime at 12:00 p.m. on December 13.
Lopez portrays a modern-day KFC king with bulging biceps and a chiseled torso, a totally different look than the company’s real-life founder Colonel Harland Sanders.
While Sanders was known for his white hair and cheerful appearance, the hunky 47-year-old actor is sporting salt and pepper hair, a trimmed goatee, and glasses.

‘I think I’m falling for the new cook,’ Jessica says on the phone in the trailer, later telling her mother that Sanders ‘has a recipe that’s going to change the world.’
The clip ends with Jessica’s scorned suitor sharpening a knife in the kitchen, saying: ‘I’ll take care of this.’
The reviews have been mixed so far, but plenty of people are intrigued by the move’s over-the-top plot and the casting of Lopez as Sanders.
Holiday trouble: It seems like there are a few villains who are out to get Sanders in the movie
Dangerous: Jessica’s jealous suitor (Chad Doreck) finds Sanders’ ‘secret recipe’ and plans to use it against him
Will there be a happy ending? The trailer shows the suitor holding Sanders hostage
‘This is the first Lifetime movie I’ve ever been interested in,’ one person tweeted, while another added: ‘I for one applaud KFC for still trying to turn the face of their company into a sex symbol.’
‘After 15 seconds of deliberation, this is now a Mario Lopez as Colonel Sanders fan acct,’ someone else commented.
Others admitted the trailer brought them great joy because they couldn’t stop laughing while watching it.

Some thought the film was the perfect end to 2020, which has already been a disastrous and unpredictable year.
‘Is Mario Lopez playing Colonel Sanders in a romance movie peak 2020?’ one person asked,’ while someone else tweeted: ‘I did not have bat s**t crazy KFC romance movie on my 2020 Bingo Card. Damn.’
