At least two students and one adult have been injured in a shooting at an Idaho middle school, where the suspect has been taken into custody. 

An active shooter entered Rigby Middle School Thursday morning in Idaho and opened fire on students, causing teachers and students to flee for their lives. 

There are three confirmed victims with their conditions not known at this time, according to Local News 8.

The suspected shooter has been detained by law enforcement. 

Meanwhile in Albuquerque a middle school was plunged into lockdown after a teacher reported seeing a student carrying a gun into the building.

There were no shots fired and no injuries reported in that incident.

Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin described the incident in Rigby as the ‘worst nightmare’ the district could have.

‘Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter. We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School,’ Martin told Local News 8.  

‘What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.’
