VIDEO: Bear operates GoPro camera lost by a snowmobile

Where’s the paws button? Hunter discovers astonishing footage filmed by a BEAR when he stumbles upon GoPro lost in the snow months earlier

  • Dylan Schilt was on a trail outside Laramie, Wyoming, on an archery hunting trip
  • He spotted a GoPro camera – which had been lost months earlier – on the ground
  • When he returned to his camp, he charged up the camera and saw the bear video

A hunter was surprised to find a lost GoPro camera in the Wyoming wilderness but he was even more astonished when he watched the extraordinary footage it had filmed.

Dylan Schilt, from Laramie, was hunting with a bow and arrow in the mountains nearby earlier this month when he found the action camera, which had fallen off a snowmobile four months earlier.

It appeared that Dylan was not the first to have found it. When he managed to charge the camera, the hunter discovered a bear had somehow managed to turn on the device and film itself.

The footage includes some really wobbly selfies and a close-up views inside the beast’s mouth.

The camera’s battery was dead, but when Schilt charged it up he was available to view amazing footage of a bear who had found the device and managed to set it recording.

The footage shows the bear holding the camera and even considering eating the device, which had been left out in the wilderness for some four months.

Schilt uploaded the video onto his Facebook page while explaining what had happened to sceptical viewers.

He wrote: ‘Last week when I was up archery hunting, I stumbled across a GoPro that was lost while snowmobiling. When I got back to camp I charged it up and couldn’t believe what I saw.

‘After four months of it sitting there, a big old black bear found it and not only managed to turn it on but also started recording himself playing with it.

‘Hands down the craziest thing I’ve ever found!’

One viewer, Neil Throndson said: ‘Hands down the best way to see the inside of a bears mouth!’

Trish McDaniel said: ‘I don’t think he’s playing with it….I think he’s eating it, lol!

Jade Gibbs thought the animal was ‘looking for the bear necessities’.

Julie Ann Nevill thought the bear was ‘so curious and playful’, while Amanda Jo added: ‘This is amazing footage! Beautiful scenery, beautiful bear.’

Amber Cross added that the footage was the point of view of her death in her ‘bearmares’.
