A professor has been interrupted by her baby eight times in one minute as she tried to present her online learning class.

Academic Elizabeth Kolkovich had just returned from maternity leave for her first class of the semester when her baby kept interrupting her.

The mother-of-two, from Akron, Ohio, was trying to film her online tutorial when her baby made noises every time she spoke.

Ms Kolkovich had to repeat her introduction ‘hello, I’m Professor Kolkovich and welcome to English 2201’ eight times before finally giving up with an exasperated ‘ahhhh’.

At one point she panned the camera around to her cute as a button daughter who looked innocently up into the lense.

She said: ‘This is my baby. She doesn’t want to be quiet today’.

Ms Kolkovich tried to keep recording so she could edit the clips into something the baby didn’t feature in, but her daughter made it impossible by constantly making noises.

She tweeted: ‘I love that my video has brought others joy and a chance to commiserate about the ridiculousness of trying to do two full-time jobs at once (child care + teaching).

‘Yesterday my 8yo re-enacted it for his second-grade class. He played me and enlisted a friend to play the baby.’

Responding to another comment she said: ‘She gives me a couple of short windows each day when I’m fooled into thinking she can play independently.

‘But I need to be in the same room and look at her regularly, and “quietly” is obviously not part of the plan!.’

To another comment she added: ‘I will need to roll with outtakes for sure! I expect the baby and her sounds will be a constant presence in my classes, but I wanted just one very short welcome where I looked like a professional adult talking to other adults. What a pipe dream!’
