Premier League winner odds: Predictions and betting tips for 2024/25 (Updated)

Manchester City have dominated the Premier League in recent seasons, winning four consecutive titles.

In the latest Premier League winner odds, they are favourites to win the title for a fifth consecutive year under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

Liverpool have historically been the greatest rivals to City’s domination. But with Jurgen Klopp quitting at the end of last season, Liverpool could be set for a season of transition under new boss Arne Slot.

Also entering the title race over the past couple of seasons is Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s team have been getting closer to City, so could the 2024/25 season finally be the year they end City’s reign?

Manchester City did look vulnerable at times in the previous season. Arsenal had their chance, but they blew it. When it came to the crunch, City got the job done. Unless there has been an improvement in the Gunners, I believe City will make it five in a row.

Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League for good reasons. 

When they find themselves under pressure, they react. Just like they did last season when they embarked on a 35-match unbeaten run in all competitions. 

The unbeaten run stretched from a 1-0 defeat away to Aston Villa on 6th December, all the way to their 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United at the end of May. 

A team that can do that has to be the team to beat. And that’s why Man City are the justified favourites to win the Premier League again in 2025.

⚽ Arsenal (2/1)

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team took the previous Premier League title race down to the final weekend of the season.

The Gunners have now gone close two seasons running. In 2023 they finished five points behind City. In 2024, the gap was just two.

In 2023, Arsenal finished with 84 points. In 2024, they managed 89. Mikel Arteta is getting the Gunners closer, but they may well have to break the 90 points barrier to win the title. 

I’m not convinced they can do that. For Arsenal to win the title, they need City’s level to drop. And on top of that, the Gunners will need to maintain the level they achieved last season.

⚽ Liverpool (19/10)

For the first time since the 2015/16 season, Liverpool will start a Premier League campaign without Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

It’s going to take some getting used to for both neutrals and Liverpool fans.

Arne Slot is the man tasked with taking over from the most popular Liverpool manager since Kenny Dalglish’s first stint in the 1980s.

It will be difficult for the 45-year-old Dutchman. And he could find himself under pressure, as it’s highly unlikely he can match what Jurgen Klopp did at Anfield. 

For starters, Klopp overachieved.

The German did not have the same resources available as Pep and other managers in the Premier League. 

He must have looked enviously at the money spent by the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea, and also Arsenal in the last couple of seasons, and thought how much could I achieve with that backing?

Slot specialises in developing young players. He looks to have been brought into Liverpool to do the same.

Liverpool fans will have to be patient with him. They were spoiled by Klopp. It looks like they need to get used to a new norm this season.

⚽ Chelsea (25/1)

I really used to believe that Chelsea was a bit of a madly run club under the ownership of Roman Abramovich.

Managers frequently arrived and then quickly left. There seemed no stability at the club, but despite all the chaos, they kept winning trophies.

Those days are now gone. And the Abramovich days now look like a golden era.

Since his successor Todd Boehly took over, the chaos has continued. But on the pitch, things have been poor. 

At times last season, the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge was toxic, with a section of fans turning on the owner, the manager and certain players. 

Raheem Sterling springs to mind after that free kick against Leicester in the FA Cup.

Despite this, Chelsea finished the season strongly, and they looked set to push on in 2024/25 under Mauricio Pochettino. 

Normal service was then resumed, and Poch was shown the door.

The Blues have now hired former Manchester City assistant and Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca, as their new head coach. 

His appointment doesn’t suggest a Premier League title is imminent. But something for sure with Chelsea is they will invest in the team, and they already have a strong squad.

If Maresca can get them to click, a top four finish could be on the cards, so keep that in mind when placing your bets.

⚽ Manchester United (80/1)

Manchester United were a comedy show at times last season.

Manager Erik ten Hag survived by the skin of his teeth, but probably only because United couldn’t find a suitable replacement. 

Their Champions League campaign was embarrassing. And towards the end of the season, the chances they were giving up every week were off the scale.

Ten Hag used his crippling injury list as the reason for the end-of-season slum.

He then provided a tactical master class to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final. 

He has been backed in the transfer market… again. But fail to deliver this season, and his number will surely be up.

New co-owners, the Ineos group, are serious people. They have started to assemble a top-class team behind the scenes. They will expect Ten Hag to match them on the pitch, with so much at stake.

Personally, I can only see it ending in failure for the former Ajax manager.

⚽ Tottenham Hotspur (50/1)

Under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Spurs were one of the best teams to watch at the beginning of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

But I always had this feeling that the high-intensity system he was asking his players to use would catch them up.

Sure enough, injuries followed, and Spurs started to fall away. 

By the time they got to the end-of-season run-in, the team looked spent.

Villa were offering weekly open goals in the race for the top four, and Spurs simply didn’t have the legs left to put the chances away.

I just don’t see Ange Postecoglou changing. He has a system, and he believes in it. 

He was an expert in telling Gareth Southgate where he was going wrong during the Euros. He may have to get used to having the roles reversed this season.

Spurs will be great to watch under Postecoglou. But they won’t be contenders for the title.

⚽ Newcastle United (33/1)

I can’t help feeling that this is a huge season for Eddie Howe. 

With Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi selling their shares in the club, Eddie Howe has lost his closest confidants in the boardroom.

Howe got away with poor results last season due to his squad being stretched by injuries and also competing in Europe.

He probably won’t have that luxury this season. 

On a positive note for Howe, he did show plenty of tactical awareness when he led his team to a 4-1 win over PSG in the Champions League group stages last season. 

Howe is also being talked about as a potential replacement for Gareth Southgate as the next England manager. 

To be in the running for one of the top international jobs in world football speaks volumes for the job Howe has done.

This isn’t lost on Newcastle chief executive Darren Eales, who was quick to play down the link, stating he will fight to keep Eddie Howe at the club amid speculation linking him with the England job.

There have been no significant signings for Newcastle this summer. 

Lloyd Kelly has arrived on a free from Bournemouth. He has been joined by Lewis Hall from Chelsea. Both are good players, but neither are going to be game changers.

Newcastle will struggle to finish in the top four.

⚽ Aston Villa (100/1)

Unai Emery showed last season why he is one of the best managers in Europe.

Never mind the cup wins on his CV, just look at how he turned around an Aston Villa side that had given up under previous manager Steven Gerrard.

Coping in the Champions League and the Premier League will be a new challenge for the Villa players, but their manager has been here before. 

I think Villa will struggle to reach the top four, but I wouldn’t dare write them off with Emery in charge. 

They have invested wisely in the squad, and Emery will know how to juggle his squad to cope with the demands of the Premier League and Europe.

Predictions to win the Premier League without Manchester City

Betting to win the league without Manchester City has been one of the popular betting markets over the past few seasons, especially on the best football betting sites.

Deciding on who the big six are is a debate in itself, especially on the best betting sites in the UK.

For the benefit of this article, I am going with the bookmakers who say that Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United will occupy the top six places next season. 

Apologies to Aston Villa and Newcastle fans. But blame the bookies, not us.

It’s hard to see anybody outside of Villa and Newcastle finishing in the top six.

West Ham and Brighton have flirted in the past, but are underdogs. And if Crystal Palace can carry on in the same manner that they finished last season, they could be in with a shot under Oliver Glasner. 

West Ham are a team that might feel they can finish seventh in the Premier League. 

David Moyes has gone, replaced by Julian Lopetegui. The former Real Madrid manager enhanced his reputation in England during his time at Wolves.

He arrives at West Ham with the remit of taking the club to the next level. 

Sadly for the Hammers, I feel he will fall short…. this year at least. 

I would back Aston Villa to finish higher.

🏅 Teams that won the last 10 EPL titles

As we alluded to above, Manchester City have dominated the Premier League over the past decade.

Only Chelsea (twice), Leicester City and Liverpool have stopped City from winning the biggest prize in English football during this period.

Okay, that does mean City haven’t won four of the last ten championships, but no one team has been able to consistently challenge them over the past decade.

In terms of league titles, Chelsea have been their biggest rival, but the London club has fallen away in recent seasons. 

Leicester had a once-in-a-generation league win. Their run to the title in 2016 captured the attention of the footballing world, and we’ll be waiting a long time to see anything like that again any time soon.

Liverpool only managed one Championship during this time. Yet they were by far the team that pushed City the most in recent years.

Showing just how difficult it is to back up a good Premier League season the following year, Klopp’s team only managed to finish second twice and third twice.

They did win a Champions League in this period and also reached two more finals. 

Despite this, I was surprised to see they only finished second twice during this period. It felt like more.

Manchester City’s domination over the past seven seasons has been remarkable. Along with their six wins, they finished runners-up in the one season they didn’t win the championship. 

And this while competing in the Champions League as well.
