All schools in Colorado’s Lake County closed after on-the-run teen posted online threats
All schools in Colorado‘s Lake County have been closed through Sunday following online threats from an at-large suspect.
Dominic Gallegos, 18, is also wanted in connection with a felony menacing case.
Lake County School District said it had chosen to shutter schools on the advice of the local sheriff.
‘We have decided not to hold school today, Wednesday, in order to keep students and staff safe in the wake of the school safety concerns that have emerged since midday today and ongoing into the night and early morning,’ Lake County School District said in a statement.

‘We will be working closely with law enforcement on appropriate next steps as they work through their investigations.
‘We will work with Amy Peters (Athletic/Activities Director) on how we will handle away athletic games over the next few days, and those coaches and athletes will be contacted directly.’
The order applies to the county’s four schools: Lake County Elementary, Lake County Intermediate School, Lake County High, Cloud City High.
On Monday, several other schools in Colorado canceled classes or increased police patrols due to threats made on social media against schools in the state and further afield in Texas.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lake County Emergency Communications Center at 719-486-1249.
The public are being urged to stay away from Gallegos if they spot him and to dial 911.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office said it was not at liberty to disclose the nature of the threats at this time.
In Colorado, felony menacing refers to the use or display of a deadly weapon.
