Massachusetts high school senior, 17, meets tragic fate after going for solo drive in her car

A 17-year-old Massachusetts high school senior, who died following a car crash, is being remembered by family and her community as the ‘girl with the most contagious smile’.

Madison Straub crashed into a tree in the neighborhood of Duxbury while she was driving by herself, Duxbury Police Department said.

First responders arrived at the scene around 12:20 am early Saturday morning, where the teenager was found unresponsive and trapped inside the car.

The unconscious high schooler was freed using the Jaws of Life before she was flown to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

The Pembroke girl eventually died days later on Monday evening, and since then, officials said they’ve launched an investigation into the crash.

Her aunt, Corey Straub, began a fundraiser for the Straub family and said: ‘Madison Straub touched the lives of everyone she crossed paths with. She will always be remembered as the girl with the most contagious smile, beautiful soul and passion to travel.’

She added that with the loss of Madison’s father, Reed Straub, in 2019, they were ‘two beautiful souls gone far too soon’.

‘It breaks my heart to watch our family endure another loss…The world will never be the same without that beautiful girl,’ she wrote.

All proceeds are set to send the family on a healing getaway and toward funeral expenses, and so far, more than $4,000 has been raised for the grieving family.
